Many scientists believe new information is absorbed and then processed into memory in the hippocampus, na argan in the Center of the brain.
The memories are then stored in bizarre pattern in various parts of the brain. The names of natural things, such as plants and animals are apparently kept in one parto f the brain. The names of machines and other man-made stuff are in another. Nouns seen to be separated from verbs. The brain hás billions of neurons(nerve cells), many with thousands of connections (synapses) throungh which they can send sygnals to neighbouring neurons. Unlike cells elsewhere in the body, neurons do not divide. They age, and some percentage of then shrink or die. Even through the brain cannot grow new ones, the neurons can probably develop new synapses late into life and thereby forn new connections with one another. He habits of highly intelligent people offer a club as to do that. Memory depends on processing and very smart people process information very deeply. The good news is that, with effort peoples Who have average intellects can enlarge their menories. One way to improve your memory is to exercise your brain as, for example, taking a new field of study.
